Most of the time the sequel sucks

Wale was right,

even though he was talkin about relationships.

With the upcoming release of The Hangover 2,

I'm wary of the actual COMEDY in the film.

The Hangover was such a GREAT film due to location, plot, and cast.

So the original film was an INSTANT classic.

What happens next is something quite bittersweet.

The fans want more.

This isn't a BAD thing,

per se,

just one of those "how do you make something great, better?!"

Don't get me wrong.

Films like Rush Hour, House Party, and Friday had some funny ass sequels,

BUT

they just were NOT the original.

Comedy sequels have a tendency to reach into the dumb funny genre instead of focusing more on what actually made the first one sooooooo good.

I use the example of Nutty Professor: The Klumps.

It was funny,

BUT

it was DUMB funny.

Like,

dumb as HALE funny.

I got a frat brother that brought up Scary Movie 2.

This is an inconsistent point because that franchise is SUPPOSED to be dumb.

Don't get me wrong.

I DO plan on seeing Hangover 2.

I DO plan on laughing at some point during the Hangover 2.

Yet,

based on the current previews,

it's DEFINITELY gonna be dumb funny.

It's like my man Brandon said about his play and a potential sequel,

"The original is for the artist. The sequel is for the fans."

  1. What about X-Men: Last Stand and Spider-Man 3. Those were hilarious sequels
